SciArt 2019 Contest
The Contest

The contest this year is broken into two different categories ... one for students in grades K-5, and another for students in grades 6-12. Each has its own approach to the basic ideas of finding art in science and science in art. In both contests both art and science are to be evident in the pictures submitted. There is a video to the left side of this page that shows how each group should proceed, and if you have questions, your teachers should be able to answer them.

The Rules

All submissions must be in the form of photographs, and the images must be .jpg's between 100k and 10Mb in size. (This is a normal format and size for most digital cameras.)

All submissions must be made using the form linked below.

The images must be taken by students living in Sisters School District, or students attending one of the Sisters schools through an inter-district transfer agreement. All images must have been taken between June 16, 2018 and March 8, 2019.

You may enter two (2) images. To enter a second image just return to this page and complete another entry form. Only your first two (2) entries will be considered.

If you want to enter a sculpture, drawing, or painting just take a picture of your work, and enter the resulting photograph. Simple as that.

All entries are reviewed for technical compliance, and all those that meet the contest requirements move to the judges without the names of the photographers. The panel of judges includes artists, scientists, and engineers. Each photograph will be scored by each judge on both artistic composition and its connection to the world of science. These two scores will be added together, and the sum will be averaged with the scores of all of the judges' scores for each photograph. The photographs with the top three combined scores will be declared the winners, and their prizes distributed during the Sisters Science Fair on March 16th.

The Prizes

Primary, 1st - $20, 2nd- $10, 3rd - $5

 Secondary, 1st - $100, 2nd- $50, 3rd- $25
