Here is an exciting opportunity for our community. This film was directed by Bend local Sandy Cummings and funded in part by the Roundhouse Foundation about an Oregon astrophysicist whose story highlights the power of resilience while pursuing a passion in science. Join us for a special screening of SPACE, HOPE and CHARITY at Sisters Movie House onWednesday 4/23 @ 6:45pm.
This award winning documentary film highlights Charity Woodrum’s journey through childhood poverty in rural Oregon and devastating tragedy as she pursues her dream of becoming a NASA astrophysicist. With help from mentors, old friends and perfect strangers, Charity finds purpose in far-off galaxies. The film highlights resilience, mentorship, and the life-changing power of human connection.
The film will be followed by Q&A with Dr. Charity Woodrum; Dr. Scott Fisher, Physics Outreach Director at UO and Director of Pine Mountain Observatory in Bend; and Sandy Cummings, director/producer of the film.
Proceeds of this event support the Woody’s Stars Fund of OCF, an education enrichment fund created in memory of Charity’s son, Woody.
Recommended for audiences 8th grade and older.
